Portrait of Penelope Keith as Margo Leadbetter in 'The Good Life'*
Having started her television career in the 1960s, she became a household name in the UK in the 1970s, when she played Margot Leadbetter in the sitcom The Good Life* (1975-1978), winning the BAFTA TV Award for Best Light Entertainment Performance in 1977.
* It’s Christmas Eve, and at the Goods’ house, Tom and Barbara are making decorations and crackers ready for Christmas Day, while at the Leadbetters, Margo has sent back her whole order because her Christmas Tree is six and a quarter inches too short. But when the company does not deliver her order the following day, she and Jerry are left with no decorations, food or drink, so Tom and Barbara invite them round for a home made Christmas.
