Dotticelli Venus (2019)

Originally Inspired by the V&A 'Botticelli Reimagined'* Exhibition: 5 March 2016 - 3 July 2016

Like a dog to a bone.. this is another attempt by me at reworking the Botticelli painting as an updated new media spotty, dotty, digital, fizzy pop painting.

Continuing my experimentation with new digital media and painting. The artwork is painted with a digital brush which can achieve effects impossible by traditional means. I am calling this my 'Fizzy POP' series.**

This particular artwork uses a brush 'loaded' with paint spots where the parameters (chosen by the artist) are altered to create different splatter effects. All the spots are perfectly symmetrical but are painted in such a way as to give the impression of depth or perspective.

Re-imagining of Botticelli's Venus: New Fizzy POP, Sugar DADA series of artworks. Check out the close-up details for a better idea of the final image.

*Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510) is recognised as one of the greatest artists of all time. His celebrated images are firmly embedded in public consciousness and his influence permeates art, design, fashion and film. However, although lauded in his lifetime, Botticelli was largely forgotten for more than 300 years until his work was progressively rediscovered in the 19th century. (V&A)
