Blossom Studies: Compositions and exercises in floral art and fabric patterns.
I have been very busy recently, creating a large range of fabric designs and patterns.
Hugely inspired by recent trips to Andalusia in Spain where I visited some amazing sites including the Alhambra in Granada and more recently the Cathedral and The Alcazar in Seville. Some of the blossom and flower photographs were actually taken within the beautiful grounds of the Alhambra and The Alcazar. More importantly these trips (with more to come) have inspired me to produce an large range of original artworks and compositions based on these experiences.
The studies are based on my original photographs which have been digitally composited and over-painted with experimental brushes. The artworks include double exposures and manipulated effects. Although referencing the recent trips there are also inspirations from classical sources looking to traditional flower studies and paintings including artists such as Jan Brueghel The Elder and The Dutch Golden Age Masters.
I have decided to release some of the early studies from these designs as Limited Editions in their own right. The compositions have been tweaked to work as fine-art prints released as small editions of only six. (Czar Catstick)*
