Swissted is an ongoing project by graphic designer Mike Joyce, owner of Stereotype Design in New York City. Drawing from his love of punk rock and Swiss Modernism, two movements that have almost nothing to do with one another, Mike has redesigned vintage punk, hardcore, new wave, and indie rock show flyers into International Typographic Style posters. Each design is set in lowercase Berthold Akzidenz-Grotesk medium—not Helvetica. Every single one of these amazing shows actually happened!
Swissted posters have been carried in the gift shops of London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Australian Centre for the Moving Image, BalticCentre ofContemporary Art, and Tokyo's Warehouse Terrada. In 2015 six prints were selected forSwiss Style, an exhibition at the Museum of Design, Zürich and are now archived in it’s permanent collection. In 2017See Hear, a type-centric Swissted poster show, opened at the Type Directors Club. In 2018 ten Swissted prints were added to the permanent collection of the Poster House Museum in New York City.
